Kahuna,s believed that, belief was the fundamental basis for the experience of any reality and that our experience is conditioned by what we believe, and thus we can only experience what we do believe is possible at some level of our consciousness. The more we believe something, the more profoundly it affects our experience.
For the Kahuna healer, the big task was to get people to change their beliefs from unhealthy to healthy ones.
There are 3 types of beliefs, that can be maintained at the same time, assumption, (paulele), this belief is a belief in which one has no doubts, and the experience is consistent with what one believes, attitude (kauana) which are beliefs that have room for doubt but which are so habitual that they continue to influence ones experience, and opinion (mana'o), which is a belief that is easily changed in the light of new knowledge and brings joy.
The saying "you create your own reality" is the belief of the Kahuna and the kinds of reality you create can also be classified into three categories, subjective and, objective, and projective.
Your subjective reality refers to ones personal sense of what is right, proper, good, moral, correct, successful and useful. It is your judge who has the greatest influence on your health, positive or negative. It is not just a difference of opinion, it is a difference in subjective experience.
Your objective reality deals with substance and facts and the way things seem to be regardless of attitude or opinion in the material world. This belief is easily changed through different interpretations.
Your third type of reality, is due to vibration. This reality begins with subjective and turns objective through mental projection. It is a reality where one creates or share in creating a purpose, bringing your desire from the idea to manifestation in your physical experience.
The Kahuna's did not see reality as something outside the self, but treated all parts as a psychological state.
In Huna, light was a symbol for energy and awareness and the basic idea behind this is that a healthy productive life is connected with a continual increase in awareness. Also the movement of water and water itself was a symbol of life to the Kahunas. So, as perceived by the Kahunas light and life are things that flow and move in cycles.
Though many practitioners bring attention to the after-life, the Kahuna was more focused on the experience of the present life, for the present life experience was a review of the life one has lived and renewal of old acquaintances, and for new growth. The dream plane is another state where we visit and we are free from the body and limitation, a multi -dimensional state of existing as well.
Huna is being aligned with a frequency to gain certain kinds of experience and communicating between the dream state and the waking state which is possible because a person exists in both at the same time, and both are involved in the process of awareness.
You can change your beliefs by exploring past lives or by exploring your present life. To the kahuna both were not separate but important for healing.
